Dear Blog,

Today marks Day 1 of Christopher and I doing P90X. We need to take "before" pictures (although I am not sure that I will want to post them for all the world to see). Day 1 went fairly well. We are actually doing 2 different programs (he is doing regular, I am doing lean) but we work out at different times anyway and we can still support and encourage each other. Plus, we can eat healthier together. Today is January 17th, so 90 days from now is April 16th. Easter is right around then, so hopefully I will look good in a (new!) Easter dress. :) I really want to feel better and have more energy for my kids too. I am tired of being tired all the time.

I will have to work around naps, today I got interrupted 5 times (3 phone calls, Henry up from his nap and one feeding) and then I didn't finish the last 10 minutes because Henry decided it would be a good time to just start screaming. But otherwise I had a great workout.

Hey, I gotta get in shape to have another baby right? ;)

Other news: we are not moving until June now so we have a few more months here in Savannah with our friends and our house. Hopefully this will give us more time to find a renter or to sell the house. This delay was definitely an answer to prayer for us!

I have no other news right now or exciting tales to tell. Well, I go but I can't think of them and I want to finish my lunch so I am off. Maybe more later....

Luck of the Irish!

Today is St. Patrick's Day, which, if you live in Savannah, you know is a big deal. Huge parade, over a million people downtown (literally) weeklong festivities. We went our first year here and while we had a good time, I really have had no desire to go back and brave the crowds (and drunk college guys). I realized that this is probably going to be last year we are here to celebrate downtown. Of course we might come back to visit one day, but it is sad to think that we will be slowly saying good bye to all the special parts of Savannah that we love. We still have yet to go on a carriage ride or ghost tour downtown, eat at Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House (or the Pink House for that matter-but we have eaten at Paula Deen's restaurant). At the same time it is nice to look ahead to new adventures we will have in a new town.

Anyway, we (Wesley and I) had a great day, we went to the commissary to go grocery shopping, then I made Shepheard's Pie for dinner (not with lamb, but oh well) with Chocolate Mousse Pie for dessert. Yummy. Now if I can just get my hands on some Chicken Cashel Blue with garlic cream sauce....mmmmmm.

Oh, and since this day is celebrated by a lot of green...why not go a little green today and do something good for the environment? Even if it's just recycling your beer bottles? I ordered some more cloth diapers for Baby Henry. Every little bit helps. :) BumGenius All-in-One cloth diaper

Good southern cooking

One of my goals before leaving Savannah is to actually learn to cook some "good southern food". I am still working on the fried chicken, but I think I may have mastered the fried green tomatoes.

We went to the farmers market on Saturday and bought 3 great looking green tomatoes. So, I sliced them dipped them in seasoned buttermilk, coated them with a cornmeal and flour mixture and threw them into our cast iron skillet, hot with oil. The were pretty good for a first try...crispy on the outside with a nice coating, and warm on the inside. We served it with chipotle ranch dressing, I would like to try to make a special dipping sauce just for the tomatoes. One step at a time!

The whole family helped on this one too-Wesley helped me make the cornmeal mixture, I cooked and Christopher enjoyed them!
